Indonesia appoints Emin Hitay, Chairman of Teknoloji Holding, as Honorary Consul in Istanbul
Emin Hitay, a prominent member of Turkey's business community and the Chairman of Teknoloji Holding, has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Istanbul.
An official appointment ceremony was held in Ankara at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Awang Bahrin, earlier this month. Emin Hitay, who also chairs the Turkish-Indonesian Business Council, commented that "he was honored to be chosen for this important role by the Republic of Indonesia, a very important ally and business partner of Turkey.
" Hitay added that "as the world production and trade shifts from the Atlantic to the Pacific basin, Indonesia will increasingly become a center of attraction for Turkish businessmen representing a number of sectors and industries. He further commented that "there exist substantial opportunities in defense, construction, energy, mining, food and agricultural sectors when it comes to improving the co-operation between the two nations. Indonesia is one of the world's biggest countries and most important economies, with a population of 240 million, and total exports reaching $ 118 billion in 2007.
Emin Hitay founded Teknoloji Holding, a holding company consisting of a selected group of innovative technology firms, 20 years ago. Besides his current duties as chairman of Teknoloji Holding and Hitay Investment Holdings, he also serves on the board of Endeavour Turkey, and is a member of TUSİAD and several other business organizations.
